Instead of killing off unwanted characters, how about putting them up for adoption? Maybe some other player wants them, so they can have the chance to own and play as them.
All you have to do is put your characters name, species and bio along with your username, so it would look like this:
Allosaurus571
Name: Example
Species: Examplesaurus
Bio: This is an example of a bio.
